The Check-In Conversation
If you want to improve the performance of your team, this is the most important 10-minute conversation that you're not having. Share on X
Every organization wants more teams like their best teams. Every team leader wants their team to be one of the high-performers. And every individual wants to feel like they are a part of something special.
There’s a way to make all of that happen – and it’s as easy as a ten-minute conversation, once a week, about near-term future work. If you are a team leader, the key to turning your team from a good one to a great one lies in two questions:
What are you working on this week?
How can I help?
It’s that easy. But the solution to making your team members feel like you know what is expected of them, and what their strengths are, simply lies in asking each person those two questions, once a week.

I agree – after 36 years of abiding management plans that are unsupported by data or evidence, I find this one practice to be the most effective.
I am a project manager for 5 years. I’m starting to implement these techniques after today. Thank you so much
I love this Marcus and we coach all our leader clients on this – amazing how this is the 1*conversation they dont do and should…..they love it and the opportunity is to make this a habit, for each and every leader. Thanks Marcus
